Above: Welcome to Albert Cuyp Markt.
Spring has arrived in Amsterdam! More time is being spent outdoors, in parks, by the canals and on cosy terraces. Why not spend some of this time on grocery shopping as well? I’m sorry Albert Heijn, we are letting you go.

Located in De Pijp, you can find Amsterdams most local and beloved market with stands selling everything from fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese and fish to clothing and cosmetics.

The best part? Prices are considerably cheaper than in established supermarkets like AH and Marqt. For instance, you can buy three avocados for €1 instead of €3,50, which is pretty amazing if you love avocados like I do.

We believe that grocery shopping should be a nice experience for you to enjoy rather than a stressful event that has to be done a few times a week. That being said, shopping for groceries outside in the sun is not only a cheaper alternative, but it is also something you will look forward to once you make it a weekly activity!
