Dutch Countryside Bike Tour. What you're in for...

Starting with an entertaining safety briefing,  meet and greet and then a roll through the city avoiding the local cyclists and toward  the serenity of the Dutch countryside. Along the way you'll be filled in on a little Dutch history like how Amsterdam came to be and why the houses all look like they're falling over.

Next you'll be taken for a casual tour along the Amstel River where your sights will be subject to the many Dutch rowing teams making the most of the sun. Here we made a couple quick stops to hear some banter from our guide and have the chance to get up close and personal with a 1600's windmill.

Our friendly tour guide leading the way toward a traditional Dutch farm. Here you'll be shown how traditional Dutch cheese and wooden clogs are made. You'll also get to sample some of the tastiest cheese known to man. Warning:  Don't be suprised if you end up leaving with  a sweet new pair of branded clogs to show off to your mates back home in the club or a block off cheese big enough to feed a small village.

Cheese and Clogs in hand, we head off to check out some of the Dutch countryside and learn how the country manages to exist below the sea level and cruise through Het Amsterdamse Bos (Forrest) checking out a massive rowing lake.

Approaching the end of our tour we cruise past the old Olympic Stadium and down some back streets before stopping in Vondelpark to hear about some of the city's more liberal policies and colorful history of the park.  Nearing the end of our tour  we cruise through Musuemplein where you'll get to tick off the Rijksmusuem and the famous iAmsterdam sign before the most hectic part of the tour where you'll have a short cycle back to home base through the city.

In summary, This 3.5-4 hour trip is an excellent way to see and learn about Dutch culture, see the Dutch countryside and some of the city highlights. Make sure to pack some food and water for this one, especially if you're indulging in some of "Amsterdam's local produce" prior to or on the tour. Probably best to leave the kids at home for this one and be prepared for a good laugh.
